"If a good self-help course is what youre after, then look much further than Jan van de Stool" SYNOPSIS: "I GET THE MUSIC IN YOU with Jan van de Stool" follows the participants of a self-help course and their overbearing course leader, Jan van de Stool, as they journey through a course of musical therapy. Jan van de Stool, Dutch/Australian Musical Therapist (self-taught), runs her courses at the Manudji Scout Hall, where she helps students sing their way to enlightenment. But Jan dreams of taking her gift to the world. When the Self-Help Management Corporation "Yes!Core" announce a search for a new TV guru, Jan thinks her dream might come true. She enlists her husband (and cousin) Pieter, an amateur craft enthusiast, to help her market The Sound of Musical Therapy - the biggest end-of-term musical therapy demonstration concert, ever. Shes mortgaged the house, shes started a video blog, and Pieters booked the Domain. But dreams dont come true easily: Pieter has just designed 50,000 posters that read The Sound of Mucasal Therapy; no matter how hard she tries, Jan just cant fire-dance; and this term she has the worst bunch of students shes ever had. Theres an ex-con (Jim), a boozy diva (Kate), a harried mother (Carol), a sceptical teacher (Matt), a medieval re-enactor (Mark Swordmaster), and the anal Scout Hall master Brian Akela. But Jan is unstoppable and the course limps forward. Half the students drop out, everyone refuses to fire-dance and so far theyve only sold 2 tickets. Jans lost her bliss, but worse still, she could lose the house. And shes certainly losing whats left of her mind. Featuring well-known musical theatre actor and comedienne Queenie van de Zandt (VERY SMALL BUSINESS, KATH AND KIM, LET LOOSE LIVE, THE FULL MONTY THE MUSICAL and Helpmann, Green Room and Sydney Theatre Award nominee) playing Jan van de Stool, and with original songs by the award-winning songwriter Peter J. Casey. I GET THE MUSIC IN YOU with Jan van de Stool is like The Choir of Hard Knocks run by Ozzie Osbourne. It combines societys love of healing and redemption with the guilty pleasure of watching a psycho have a flaming meltdown.
