Troubled Waters
Description
Troubled Waters: Coping With Stress and Conflict Management Skills for Water Professionals In a climate of antithesis toward what can be perceived as overly burdensome, or excessively inhibitive, environmental regulation those charged with overseeing the law and its implementation can frequently find themselves in situations that would try the patience of a saint! This can be particularly true for those in the water environment professions - both at work and when called upon to present in a public forum. When a regulator interacts with a property owner, elected official or developer, there are usually two outcomes: happiness or disappointment. It's frequently a yes/no situation and even a 'maybe, let's see' answer can be viewed as prevarication or obstructionism. Caught in the middle are real people who can find their blood pressure, and resulting physical and mental health risks, still elevated when they go home at the end of the day - or worse, ramped up in preparation for a contentious public evening meeting. This WasteWater Education Tuesday@Two online realtime presentation is designed to provide basic coping skills for professionals for defusing workday stress and learning management techniques of how to talk with potentially angry clients and audiences. The co-presenters are skilled mediation specialists. Following the recorded portion of this event, participants may arrange a private session to discuss their own individual needs. On Tuesday November 13, participants learned how to pour oil upon their own 'Troubled Waters'! There is no charge to attend Tuesday@Two sessions but space is limited to the first 45 reservations. Each Presentation begins at 2 PM Eastern Time. And if you have a topic or case study that you would like to present in this free Master Class Series please send us an email. info@wastewatereducation.org
